Special Message from our National Executive Board

NSBE Family,

Now that most of the cameras are gone, and the media frenzy has calmed down, let us not forget our brothers and sisters in Haiti. As most of you know, on January 12, 2010, a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Port-au-Prince, the capital of Haiti. Our National Chair, Ms. Stacyann P. Russell sent out an initial email to let you know we would be working on plans to make an impact in Haiti. Since then our Chair has been meeting with various organizations and companies such as the Red Cross to discuss Haiti. In Addition, your National Executive Board (NEB) has put together a group of NSBE leaders to take on the task of finding the best way we can help Haiti now and in the long run, and the best partnerships to enter to have a lasting impact. If you are interested in potentially volunteering with NSBE to help Haiti either now or in the future please fill out this survey so we can know more information about what works best for our members:

https://nol.nsbe.org/surveys/SV05SurveyDetail.aspx?surveyId=1328

If you cannot donate your time but wish to donate money, please donate to trusted organizations. It is best to donate to organizations that already have a relationship in Haiti. Two of many organizations helping with aid efforts in Haiti are:

American Red Cross: http://www.redcross.org/en/ *
Unicef: http://www.unicef.org/ *

Please stay tuned for more updates.

I had a conversation with the Wichita State Chapter today. They are looking for resources on how to remember and understand what they are reading from their text books. Any ideas? -- Kari L. Brown is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at Mich…
